The Right Wood Beneath the White

The finish may be white, but what sits beneath it matters just as much. At Jarrods Staircases we build with solid hardwood rather than laminate, choosing from oak, maple, walnut or beech depending on what best complements your home. The timber we use is ethically sourced from trees between 100 and 150 years old, harvested during the winter months when sap levels are at their lowest.

This produces a tougher, more durable wood that is ideally suited to staircase building and gives a white painted finish a solid, long-lasting foundation. Because every staircase is made to measure, our team can also advise on which wood will take your chosen finish best. If you would like to talk through the options, get in touch and we will guide you from there.

White Painted Staircase

Why Choose a White Painted Staircase?

A white painted staircase is the perfect way to make even small areas feel spacious, open, and airy because they reflect natural light so well. It’s a simple way to make your staircase stand out while still feeling timeless and welcoming. Here’s what makes our staircases special:

01

We use high-quality, natural materials

We will match your space with wood that best complements what you already have. Whether it’s oak, maple, walnut, or beech, sustainable harvesting is important to us. We source our timber ethically to do our part in protecting the environment. The wood we use is sourced from trees between 100 and 150 years old, which are harvested during the winter months to ensure minimal sap and a tougher, more durable wood perfect for staircase building.

Versatile style options

Whether you prefer an all-white look or wood stairs with white risers for a stylish contrast, white-painted staircases are a popular choice because they are so versatile. They blend easily into existing interiors, whether they are sleek and contemporary or more traditional and classic. The white finish also allows you to easily complement existing décor, making it a perfect choice for various styles and tastes.

All White or Two-Tone? Styling Your Staircase

One of the reasons white painted staircases remain so popular is how versatile they are. A fully white staircase creates a bright, seamless look that reflects natural light and makes even smaller hallways feel open and airy. Alternatively, many of our customers choose a two-tone approach, pairing wooden treads with crisp white risers for a stylish contrast that shows off the natural grain while keeping the space feeling fresh.

Both routes blend easily into existing interiors, whether your home leans sleek and contemporary or more traditional and classic, and the white finish makes it simple to complement your existing decor as it changes over the years. Whichever direction you prefer, every staircase we build is bespoke, so the finish, proportions and detailing are tailored entirely to your space rather than adapted from standard parts.

I would like to say thank you for the job on our staircase, Jill and I are very pleased with it. We came down to your unit, up the stairs to meet you both and the stairs looked brilliant. So we were in the right place to get ours done. Gabriel and Neil did very well to go through it all with us, great. Then Chris arrived and what a job he has done here excellent from start to finish. Our lounge has been changed for the better, he was on time and left after cleaning up the site every day. He does like his cups of tea! We can’t fault the job, it’s really excellent. Regards Jill and Graham Case.
